Staff Report
Dubai: Two men were arrested for committing a series of burglaries in villas in Bur Dubai and Al Mamzar.
Brigadier Khamis Mattar Al Mazeina, Director of Dubai Police's Criminal Investigation Department (CID), yesterday said Bur Dubai and Al Muraqqabat police stations had received several complaints from worried residents.
He said the thefts were carried out by an Arab man and an African. They operated at night when residents were sleeping.
Brigadier Al Mazeina said investigating teams arrested one of the suspects on December 6 and one of the stolen items was also recovered.
Probe led to the man's aide who denied any link with the first suspect.
"The items were sent to the suspects' countries through a cargo company. Officers working on the case were able to recover the items, which included a TV, a microwave and some bags," Brigadier Al Mazeina said. He said the suspects had hidden some of the expensive items inside the TV to misguide customs.
"The two suspects carried out similar crimes in Northern Emirates. Coordination between Dubai Police and police in the concerned emirates is going on to find out similar cases," Brigadier Al Mazeina said.
